SAFEGUARDING
At Pinner RFC, we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all children and young people involved in the game of rugby.
We recognise that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility — from coaches and volunteers to parents and spectators.
We fully endorse and follow the RFU Safeguarding Policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines, and we are committed to ensuring that all children (anyone under the age of 18) are protected from harm, abuse, or poor practice while participating in rugby.
Our Safeguarding Standards
-
All coaches and volunteers working with children are DBS-checked and have completed the RFU's Introduction to Safeguarding course.
-
Pinner RFC has adopted and implements the RFU’s Code of Conduct and the Codes of Conduct for Coaches, Spectators and Match Officials.
-
We manage our changing facilities to ensure that children are supervised by two DBS-checked adults of the appropriate gender, and that adults do not change at the same time as children.
-
We comply with RFU Regulation 21 concerning regulated activity and DBS checks for those working with children.
-
Our club follows the RFU’s “Managing Challenging Behaviour” policy and supports our coaches with training and resources relevant to their roles.
-
All tours, whether domestic or overseas, are conducted in line with RFU guidelines and safeguarding expectations.
Pinner RFC Safeguarding Policy
Key Principles of the RFU Safeguarding Policy
-
The welfare of the child is paramount.
-
All children have the right to protection from abuse, regardless of age, gender, ability, race, religion, or background.
-
Any allegations or concerns will be taken seriously and responded to promptly, fairly, and appropriately.
-
We work in partnership with parents, carers, statutory agencies, and other organisations to ensure children's welfare.
-
Children are entitled to a safe, positive, and enjoyable experience in rugby, whether they are playing, volunteering, or officiating.
What is Not Acceptable at Pinner RFC
Pinner RFC does not tolerate the following behaviours and will take disciplinary action in line with club and RFU policy if necessary:
-
Working one-on-one with a child in an isolated setting
-
Smoking or consuming alcohol while responsible for children
-
Providing alcohol to or using inappropriate language around children
-
Humiliating or physically punishing children
-
Engaging in inappropriate or sexual conduct or communication
-
Allowing physical contact games or activities that may put children at risk
